The Big Game: Ad Wars

Another big Football Sunday has passed. Advertising during the Big Game has become a sport in and of itself, with brands spending millions on ad spots and months planning. Some brands are staples, but this year, we saw political ads make a strong showing, along with some fan favorites. We tracked the big players over the course of the night. With a huge data pool of over 3.35 million mentions, there was a lot to look at.

Not surprising, Trump’s spot (and his geography mistake) garnered the most buzz. Not far behind him though, was Pepsi, largely due to the impressive half-time show and their celebrity-filled ad spot. Olay and Avocados From Mexico had a very strong showing. Olay showed that going socially conscious can pay off, and they promised to donate $1 to Girls Who Code for every tweet. Hard Rock gained points for pulling in superstar and MVP J.Lo, while Google went sentimental with reminding us of the little things they can help us remember.

It was a great night for brands. Take a look at our high-level stats from the evening.
